Author's Acknowledgements^
^
The author wishes to thank the many individuals and companies
without whose help this volume would have been immeasurably more
difficult to complete: Hawaiian Airlines for their on-time service and
support, Patrick Cowell and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts for delightful
accommodations on all islands, Patty Cook for great advice and
friendship, Adi Kohler and the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Sheila
Donnelley for bringing me to the islands in the first place and for
invaluable assistance and friendship, The Kapalua Bay Hotel, Marsha
Wienert and Wailea Resort Association, Tani Bova and Mary
Patterson of Princeville Corporation, Carol Dawson and Sam Garcia at
Makena Resort, Charlie and Mark Taketa for good suggestions and
well-deserved ribbing, Tim Bradley for sticking with me on those
tough research assignments (on the links), Linda O'Day for the same,
Kunio Hayashi for the same, Christopher R. Hemmeter for the set of
Ping Eye clubs (I still owe him for) and for good laughs, Rick Carroll
for many needed beach walks as we tracked each other to the same
deadline (his on the Great Outdoor Adventures of Hawaii) and for
introducing me to Michelle Corbin of American Hawaii Cruises whom in
turn I thank for introducing me to Foghorn Press, to all the golf courses
and pros who took the time to share their courses with me, and most
of all to JoAnna Robles for patience, love and that great new golf bag!
(Sorry I lost all those pretty golf balls you gave me for Christmas so
fast!)^
